Q1: How do I set up a Mole?

Option 1:
Insert CD into your computer’s DVD or CD drive.


Windows User:

  • Browser CD to ‘Windows’ folder.
  • Double-click ‘mole-setup.exe’
  • Follow screens to install on desktop

Run the setup software and follow the instructions on screen.


Mac User

  • Open Finder to CD’s ‘Mac OS’ folder
  • Open ‘mole-setup.zip’ file
  • Drag ‘Remote Cameras’ app to desktop

Run the setup software and follow the instructions on screen.

Option 2:
Please go through the following steps (same in quick setup guide):
1. Connect the Mole to a router, and then plug in to AC power.
2. Login at astak.yoics.com, follow the questions to register a yoics account. Click on “Complete Registration” when finish.
3.The system will automatically detect your camera. Give a name to your camera and click on “Register Now”. After the registration, you can view your camera under My Stuff -> Cameras.

Q2: The system does not detect my camera after registration. What should I do?

Please use the CamSearch software (provided on the CD) to check whether the camera is on the network.
1. If the camera does not show on the software, please check your network connections.
2. If the camera shows on the software, please unplug the camera power, wait a few seconds, then plug back in. Now login to astak.yoics.com to register your camera.

Q3: I cannot view my Mole on my internet browser. What should I do?

If you are using Internet Explorer, the first time you need to install ActiveX software. Simply click on
“Install” to add this feature to your browser. If you are using other browsers (such as Safari, Firefox or
Chrome), Apple QuickTime software is required. If auto-installation was not completed, please manually
download and install Apple QuickTime.

After installation, if you still CANNOT see camera image, please follow steps below to set up your QuickTime.


Windows User:
With QuickTime player open, select Edit, Preferences, QuickTime Preferences.

  • Browser: Check “Play movies automatically”, and “Enable Kiosk mode”. Select “MIME Settings”,
    Check “Streaming”, “Video” and “MPEG”.
  • Streaming: Select “Automatic” on “Streaming Speed”, and check “Enable Instant-on”.
  • Advanced: Select “Custom” for “Transport Setup”, Transport Protocol: “HTTP” and “Port ID”: 80.


Mac User

With QuickTime Player open, select
QuickTime Preferences from the QuickTime Player pull down menu.

  • Streaming: Select your connection speed from the pull down menu. Also click on Enable
    Instant-On and set it to a short delay.
  • Advanced: From the Transport Setup pull down menu, choose Custom. Set Transport Protocol
    to HTTP and click the Port 80 button. Click OK.
For system 10.5, Quicktime Preferences are set from System Preferences.

For Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard Instead of the preference panel on QuickTime, users need to change
the setting using a command line in the Terminal program. Terminal is normally found in the Utilities
folder under the Applications folder. Please open the Terminal and enter the following command: qtdefaults
write TransportSettings HTTP 80

Q4: How do I set up my Mole for wireless usage?

Go to the view interface of your camera, click on Advanced -> Network, then under Wireless Settings, select Enable. Click on Search to look for your wireless network. Click on Join to connect to your network. Type in the Security mode and WPA Algorithm (shown in the search). Then type in the username and password. Finally, click on Apply. Unplug the network cable first before unplug the power cable. Now you can move the Mole to where you like and reconnect it to a power source.

Q5: How do I play the videos saved in the Mole?

Q6: How do I enable the YouTube auto upload feature?

An SD card is required for the YouTube auto upload feature. If you have already inserted a SD card in the Mole, please go though the following steps.
1. Go to view interface of your camera.
2. Click on Advanced -> Alarm. Select “Save Video on SD card”.
3. Click on Motion Detection. Choose a range for the detection. Click on Apply.
4. Click on Remote Storage. Check On for Upload Motion to Youtube. Key in the related information, and click on Apply.

Q7: If the www.yoics.com is not accessible, how do I view my camera?

Please go to www.yoics.net to sign in to your account. Or you can view it locally by typing the IP address into your browser. The CamSearch tool can help you find the IP address of your camera.

Q8: How do I get my password back?

For the Yoics account password, go to www.yoics.com, select “Forgot password”, and follow the instructions to get your password back. For the camera password, use the Reset button at the back: hold it down for about 10 seconds, the camera will start moving, and then let go. After the camera stops, the camera username and password will be set to default.

Q9: I have problem login to Mole from Safari 4.0. What should I do?

Please open your safari browser, go to Setting -> Preferences -> Security, and select “Always” on “Accept Cookies”. Please check "Remember this Password" in the Login window.

Q13: I cannot save videos or pictures after I click Record or Capture?

Please note: An SD card in FAT32 file system with 8GB or smaller capacity will be required for recording functions. After you insert an SD card, please go to Advanced, Alarm, check both “Save picture in SD card” and “Save Video in SD card”. On Windows Vista or 7, you will need to disable User Account Control (UAC) in order to use the record or capture function. Please use the link below to see the instruction how do you disable UAC.
